Attendance Matters

Gracefield is committed to providing an excellent education to all pupils. We believe that for our children to reach their full educational potential a high level of school attendance is essential and we know that children who come to school every day do better in their learning.

Pupils who are on time and are fully engaged, make more progress and go on to have better life choices. We record every child's attendance and monitor this carefully; consistently striving for full attendance for all pupils and following up all absences on an individual basis. We believe that only by attending school regularly and punctually will children be able to take full advantage of the educational opportunities available to them. High attainment relies on good attendance. The whole school community, including parents and carers, teaching and support staff and children, have a responsibility for ensuring good school attendance and all have important roles to play.  

We expect all pupils to attend school during the published term dates unless they give good reason for absence. Such absence should be explained in writing to the Headteacher via the form found here.
